One of our new clients asked us to have a look at an outdoor BBQ surface that was covered with tiles. You can see clearly that this was not a proper installation and we highly recommend NOT using tile as an outdoor work surface.
Some tips to creating a weather proofed work surface are:
1. Use cement board with a waterproof sealer/membrane before applying your finished work surface.
2. Put a solid piece of material on top of the cement board like granite, quartz or pressure treated wood.
3. When all put together inspect it thoroughly and use sealers or caulking to fill any areas you see were water can enter.
